Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed which was based in Washington DC. She became a Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was appointed as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell hosted and participated as an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She has covered several notable stories over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform, and The Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled extensively together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
